Annual coastal clean up day at Overland and the creek (at the base of the Julian Dixon Library) with the City of Culver City. The largest volunteer event in the world! Maelys Renauld, the Eco dancer, will kick off this event. We will host over 150 people at this event!
Come help BCR stop the trash from going into our oceans!
This is a zero waste event! Bring 1-2 liters of reusable water bottles, wear closed-toe shoes & Bring a Hat! Wear sunscreen and long pants are recommended.
The BCR Team welcomes volunteers of all ages for this fun and worthwhile activity where the inland water and incoming tide meet—a special place of water, fish, birds, and plants—yet still too much concrete and mostly-plastic ocean-bound trash! It’s also a great way for students to earn community service credits!
As with all creek and coastal cleanups, kids under 18 need waiver forms signed by their parent or guardian, available either on-site or on website, http://ballonacreek.org/wp-content/uploads/2016/01/cleanupwaiversfor-minors2015.pdf
Adult volunteers sign waivers on-site. Children 14 years and under need to be accompanied by an adult guardian or parent.
Details: We recommend sunscreen, hats, and close-toed shoes (preferably water-resistant). Feel free to bring your own water in a reusable container and gloves. Water and gloves also will be available at the event, along with bags, grabbers, buckets, rakes, and educational displays.
