On Saturday-Sunday, August 27-28, at BCR’s Fiesta La Ballona booth on Saturday afternoon (8/27), kids and adults enjoyed creating some wonderful bird-and-butterfly-themed art led by BCR’s Lucy Blake-Elahi and Irene Reingold.
On Sunday, Lucy Edward engaged kids and adults in our matching quiz game to identify Ballona plants and waterbirds.
And other BCR folks briefed booth visitors on our mission and acitivities with our display boards.
Our single-use polystyrene food serviceware proposal sparked lots of interest, with 72 visitors signing BCR’s petition. In the left-hand photo, Jim Lamm briefs State Senator Holly Mitchell on the issue.
As noted at the booth, BCR also strongly endorses CA Prop 67, the Plastic Bag Ban Referendum, on the November 8th ballot. A “yes’ vote is a vote in favor of upholding or ratifying the contested legislation banning plastic bags that was enacted by the CA legislature as SB270 and which was supported by the CA Grocers Association, Heal the Bay, Surfrider, BCR, and many others. It would not affect existing bag bans. Click here for Surfrider’s 10 Reasons to Vote Yes on CA Prop 67.
