On a beautiful Coastal Cleanup Day (CCD), Saturday, September 17, Ballona Creek Renaissance about 60 volunteers gathered at Overland Avenue to help clean along the creek while doing a little needed landscape work. Led by Site Captain Deb Gregory with assistance by other BCR leaders and the Culver City High School BCR Club, volunteers scoured the top and bottom edges of the creek banks and storm drain outlets for buckets full of trash. BCR volunteers Jim Lamm and experienced gardener Larry Ebner also did some needed landscape maintenance at the junction of the bike path, pedestrian bridge and the public bike pass access gate from the school district property. Their task was to relieve a hazardous condition by removing some of the shrubbery that was blocking visibility for people enteriing or crossing the bike path.
