Help Clean Ballona Creek!
CANCELLED due to rain!!
Saturday, March 17rd (new date), 9am-noon
BCR and the DEL REY NEIGHBORHOOD COUNCIL welcome volunteers of all ages for this fun and worthwhile activity where the inland water and incoming tide meet—a special place of water, fish, birds, and plants—yet still too much concrete and mostly-plastic ocean-bound trash! It’s also a great way for students to earn community service credits!
With the BCR-initiated Culver City ban on single-use polystyrene food and beverage containers now in place, we hope to see a little less polystyrene in future cleanups. BCR encourages people to share the Culver City website information with restaurants that don’t comply: http://www.culvercity.org/how-do-i-/learn/city-ban-on-polystyrene-foodware
As with all creek and coastal cleanups, participants under 18 need waiver forms signed by their parent or guardian, available either on-site or online. Adult volunteers sign waivers on-site. Minor waivers: http://ballonacreek.org/wp-content/uploads/2016/01/cleanupwaiversfor-minors2015.pdf
Details: Wear close-toed shoes (preferably water-resistant) and sunscreen. Bring your own water in a reusable container. Water also will be available at the event, along with bags, grabbers, gloves, buckets, and educational displays. More cleanup details: http://ballonacreek.org/all-project-list/project-1/
