Ballona Creek Renaissance, the Culver City High BCR Club, and the Del Rey Neighborhood Council invite you to our first Creek cleanup of 2016! Saturday morning, February 20, 2016, from 9 AM to noon.
Join volunteers of all ages in this fun and worthwhile activity where the inland water and incoming tide meet in the natural bottom estuary! It’s still a special place of fish, birds, and waterside foliage alongside the bike path entrance’s sheltering native trees and plants. Help us safely remove trash that pollutes the waters of the creek and ocean for birds, fish, marine mammals and humans swimmers. And it’s a great way for older students to earn community service credits!
Download our flier for a description of how our cleanups work.
All volunteers under 18 must bring a parent or a waiver signed by a parent. Parents or adult supervisors must accompany younger children for safety. Download cleanup waivers for minors. Waivers for minors will also be available on site, but the parent must be there to sign.
Wear closed-toed shoes (preferably water-resistant) and sunscreen. Bring your own water in a reusable container. Water also will be available at the event, along with bags, grabbers, gloves, buckets, and educational displays.
